WhatsApp messaging app is most popular for the convenience of the people and also everyone uses it. But due to lack of information about all the features related to it, many people get lost in using it properly. In this news, we will share a part of those features with you, in which we are going to tell about the problem of chat backup.
WhatsApp automatically lets you back up your chat history at a certain time every day. It is not yet clear why this chat backup gets stuck, and it definitely gives tension to the users. In the last one year, this bug is being seen in WhatsApp.
Many times it has also been seen that due to this the entire chat history gets deleted. However, now a user on the social media platform Reddit has suggested a way to overcome this problem.
According to the solution mentioned by the users, WhatsApp users will have to follow these steps to prevent the chat history from getting stuck-
Step 1: First of all go to Google Drive and unlink your WhatsApp account.
To do this, go to https://drive.google.com, log in to your Google Account.
Then click on Settings > Manage app > WhatsApp Messenger (or WhatsApp Business) > Options > Disconnect from device. This way, if your chat history is saved on the device, they will be safe.
Step 2: Uninstall WhatsApp from your phone.
Step 3: Using File Manager, go to ‘User > Android > Media > Com.whatsapp > WhatsApp > Database’.
If you do not find the WhatsApp database by clicking in this sequence, you can find the chat database at ‘WhatsApp > Database’ or “User > WhatsApp > Database”.
Select the newest entry in the folder, rename it to ‘msgstore.db’, but leave the .crypt extension as it is.
For example, if the extension reads ‘.crypt12’, then rename the file to ‘msgstore.db.crypt12’.
Step 4: Re-install WhatsApp on your phone and log in using the same phone number.
Step 5: After logging in, WhatsApp will try to find the latest database in Drive to retrieve your chat history.
But since you have unlinked WhatsApp from Google Drive, WhatsApp will use the backup on your phone, which you have renamed.
Step 6: Once the chat history is restored using the backup on the phone, you can link your WhatsApp with Google Drive to save the chat history again. In this way, the problem of your chat history getting stuck at 100% will go away.
