What is FASTag: From 15 February 2021, the Road Transport and Highway Ministry has made FASTags necessary for all trains. According to the ministry’s order, the electronic toll collection system FASTag will be necessary to pay the toll charges across the country. This will be required while crossing any toll plaza of the National Highway. If the Fastag is missing from the vehicle, the driver will have to pay double the toll tax. Let’s know every important thing about Fastag, which you want to know.
What is FASTag
FASTag is an electronic toll collection technique. It uses radio frequency identification (RFID). This is a rechargeable prepaid tag that you have to place on the inside of your vehicle’s windshield. FASTag helps collect toll tax at the toll plaza without stopping the car. The use of RFID technology will reduce the waiting time in toll plazas for vehicles compared to cash transactions.
How does FASTags work
As soon as your vehicle approaches the toll plaza, the sensor on the toll plaza tracks the fastag on the windscreen of your vehicle. After this, the fee charged on that toll plaza is deducted from your Fastag account. In this way, you are able to pay the fee without stopping at the toll plaza. This tag installed in the vehicle will start its work as soon as your prepaid account is activated. At the same time, when the amount of your Fastag account is exhausted, you have to recharge it again.
How to Buy FASTag
You can buy Fastag stickers at the National Highway toll plaza. Fastag stickers can be purchased from 22 different banks including HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, IDFC First Bank. Apart from this, Fino Payments Bank and Paytm Payments Bank also issue fastags. Not only this, it is also available on e-commerce platforms like Paytm, Amazon and Flipkart.
How to recharge FASTag
If Fastag is connected to NHAI prepaid wallet, it can be recharged through check or through UPI / Debit Card / Credit Card / NEFT / Net Banking etc. If the bank account is linked to Fastag, then the money is deducted directly from the account. If the Paytm wallet is linked to Fastag, the money is deducted directly from the wallet.
