Removed followers will not be notified of changes Twitter's New Remote Follower Feature Is a Remote Unfollow Button
Micro-blogging site Twitter has launched a new feature, the Soft Block tool, that will allow any user on the web to remove a follower without being blocked. To soft block a follower, go to your profile, click Followers, click the three-dot menu next to a follower, then click the option to “remove this follower”. As The Verge reports, the follower you remove will not be notified of the change. This is different from blocking someone, which prevents them from viewing your Tweets and sending you Direct Messages (preventing you from doing the same to them).
Twitter’s new remote follower feature is a remote unfollow button, which is a great way to create some distance between someone you may have on the micro-blogging platform. Previously, to unfollow someone without their knowledge, you could do a “soft block”, which is when you manually unblock someone from a block. Followers you delete need to follow you back to see your Tweets on their timeline Your approval will be required.
Twitter is also testing new prompts on iOS and Android that warn users before jumping into conversations. In one instance, a conversation in progress shows a sign that says, “Such conversations can get intense. Persistent harassment on the platform is the company’s latest effort to reduce abuse. Instagram also recently Introduced a similar tool called Limits, which enables users to temporarily restrict unwanted conversations.
